The english outfit were shocked by ukrainian outfit when the
shakhtar's adriano took a shot which got deflected by john terry into
the path of teixeira,who wasted no time in stroking past the lonely
cech.Chelsea wanted to restore parity,but shakhtar looked more
dangerous,and things got bad for the blues when frank lampard was
withdrawn due to injury and was replaced by eden harzard.There wasnt
much difference as he made little or no impact and petr cech continued
to pull off saves.
Chelsea tried to settle and get themselves back in the game when the
2nd half began,but shakhtar continued to test and press,until they
were duely rewarded when hazard hazardiously gave away the ball in the
half only for fernandinho to receive a pass from adriano and shoot
from that angle into the corner of cech's net.Torres was below par and
was replaced by daniel sturrigde who made a quick impact on goal,but
shakhtar stood firm.
The blues got their consolation however in the 87' when ivanovic raced
forward to deliver a nice cross into the shakhtar area only for oscar
to tap in.That wasnt enough though as shakhtar saw off chelsea at the
dombass arena to claim the whole 3points..deserving!
