United see off royals in a tight encounter.

With the absense of 'wingers' and united needing to win to go top of
the table,a 4-5-1 formation was implemented by the united boss with
rooney playing the right flank and anderson play a No.10 role.

The royals took the lead through robson kanu as he took advantage of a
loose ball to hammer in to the far corner of anders lindegaards
net.United made immediate response with anderson as ashley young
realeased him with a pass on the left edge of the area to unleash a
powerful left footer shot in the top angle[did you see that goal
celebration by anderson?,quite funny].United then took the lead when
jonny evans was fouled in the box and the resulting spot kick was
converted by wayne rooney to make it 1-2.

The royals restored parity through adam le fondre home, and
they[reading] took the lead for the second time in the game when sean
climbed above evans to put a header past lindegaard. The first half
drama wasnt over yet when young and anderson combined well for the
latter to square for wayne rooney to stroke home and make it 3-3.

United too also took the lead for the second time in what was the
winning goal of the game when a precise carrick through pass went
along rooney to robin van persie to control and latch past the royals
keeper to make it 3-4...Robin van persie also had a goal not counted
as the linesman didnt see it had crossed the line. And thats it as no
goals were recorded in the 2nd 45minutes.

United now top the league table with 3points for city to trail
behind, and 10points for chelsea and westbrom to trail as well.
