Yet these stats are merely papering over the obvious cracks.Man Utd are known as come back kings but they are not known for having a plucky defence,they are not known for conceding cheap goals.
Far too often this season,we have seen United get punished for failing to deal with crosses(Fellaini,Lambert etc),we have seen opposing player run through the middle of the park,bamboozle the defenders & score goals(Bale,Kightly etc).
There is enough blame to go around though as the midfield is also culpable,they give opposing runners all the space in the world to run at the defence & leave defenders backpedalling,they fail to make vital tackles.This whole blame game then trickles down to Fergie himself,he knows Carrick & Scholes can't tackle to save their lives yet he failed to address it in the summer preferring to add to an already potent attack.
United's frontline is now as fearsome as they come,this probably means they will outscore most opponents but failure to address this defensive issues now,precious points will be lost & it may be those ones that matter.
