The bosnian born moved from wolfsburg to manchester city after a heavy
speculation for a fee of €32million in january 2011 on a four and a
half year deal.
Ever since the move to the etihad,dzeko has always being at the end of
one thing or the other(not the balloteli way!).Scoring decisive goals
and all that.(mario scores too anyway).Dzeko might not be as prolific
as messi,ronaldo,ibrahimovic etcetera,but he has had enormous impact
in man.city's quest to glory.He has scored important goals!
Dzeko made his debut on 30 january 2011 in the FA cup match when he
equalised against notts county which ended 1-1,and on 20 febuary
2011,the replay was played and city thrumped notts county 5-0,city
wouldnt have gone all the way to win the FA cup if dzeko had missed
that chance in the 1st leg.Yes,yaya toure scored the winning goal
against stoke to clinch the FA Cup in 2011,however,dzeko's importance
cannot be overemphasize
d.
Also,in 2011,dzeko's only goal in the match against blackburn
rovers(1-0)enabled city to set eyes on a fourth spot in the league.On
the final day of the season,his goal against bolton wanderers
guaranteed city the third spot over arsenal and automatic
qualification into the group stage of the UEFA champions league(three
points ahead of arsenal).
In 2012,the magic year,city lost the community shield to
rivals,united,dzeko scored the second equaliser(3-2 loss),he scored in
the 4-0 win against swansea city and scored four goals in the match
against tottenham hotspur in the third match of the season.,thus
becoming the first ever city player to score four goals in a premier
league match,(awesome!).He went on to claim the player of the month
award in august 2011.
In the quest for 2011/2012 premier league crown,he got a crucial win
for city at the expense of resurgent wigan(1-0),which made city lead
united by three points at the top of the table,also the headed goal
against blackburn 3-0 bashing help maintain a narrow two point lead
over rivals,manchester united.dzeko's greatest ever impact and perhaps
most important goal for city came in the thrilling match against QPR
when dzeko scored a 92nd minutes equaliser before aguero scored the
winner in the 95th minutes to beat QPR 3-2 en route to their first
ever premier league title in 44years(whaoo!)..that dzeko equaliser was
a propellant.
2012/2013 hasnt being different either,especially when he helped city
equalise against southampton en route to a 3-2 win,he scored another
against QPR.He then scored a goal lead against real madrid in the UEFA
champions league to make it 2-1(but madrid showed them josé was their
coach and that they were the one who beat barça to the title in
2011/2012),the match ended 3-2 in madrid's favour,he mad a scare
though!
His recent moment of magic came on the 20th oct,2012 against westbrom
when he came off the bench in the 79th minutes to score the equaliser
and also the winner minutes into stoppage time,helping city to ensure
their stay in the table top 4 rank.dzeko is said not to b happy at
'super sub role',should macini give him a regular starting slot,i tell
you,he would be key again.
Yaya must have pulled strings in the midfield,silva must have made
runs into the box,kolarov must have scored kicks,hart must have pulled
saves,but cardinal dzeko's importance cannot be over emphasized!
