As expected,both clubs made significant changes to their starting XI.
Ryan giggs got united upfront when anderson found him with a precise
pass,he made no mistakes as he finished with dexterity to open the
scoring,chelsea didnt rest however,as victor moses got fouled by
buttner in the united box,only for david luiz to fire past anders
lindegaard.Anderson provided yet another assist when he gave hernandez
a nice pass after dispossesing david luiz in the half,only for the
mexican to finish smartly past petr cech[he always does] just before
the half.
Within few minutes played in the second 45minutes,juan mata assisted
gary cahill through a corner to restore parity,but united came againt
to lead the scores when nani was assisted by anderson to chip past
petr cech.,the game was a terrific one as hazard help send the match
to extra time as he equalized through a penalty given when wootton
appeared to have fouled ramirez in the united box,the belgian did well
to slot past lindegaard.
Into the extra time,chelsea took the lead for the first time as
sturrigde put them in front,ramirez also tapped home the fifth through
the help of hazard.Giggs scored from the penalty spot after hernandez
was fouled in the box and it looked like a comeback was looming,but
time ran out and chelsea are through to the last eight
sweet revenge!
